Visa-free countries 2026: where you can go with an Azerbaijani passport

The number of countries you can visit visa-free with an Azerbaijani passport has grown in recent years. In 2026 the list includes more than twenty countries. That means no collecting documents and no queuing at an embassy: just a passport and a ticket. Below are those countries and how long you can stay in each.

The most popular destinations

Turkey

Turkey is the most popular choice, and you can even travel there with your ID card. Stays of up to 90 days are usually allowed. If you're planning a trip to Istanbul, our Baku to Istanbul guide will help.

Georgia

Unlike other countries, Georgia lets you stay visa-free for a full year (365 days). That makes it easy for both a weekend and a long stay. Just note that since 1 January 2026, health and accident insurance is mandatory for foreigners visiting Georgia.

China

With cities like Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, China is drawing more and more travellers from Azerbaijan. Since 16 July 2025, citizens of Azerbaijan can visit China visa-free for up to 30 days.

Other visa-free countries and how long you can stay

  • Russia: 90 days;
  • United Arab Emirates: 90 days;
  • Qatar: 30 days;
  • Iran: 14 days;
  • Malaysia: 30 days;
  • Serbia: 90 days;
  • Bosnia and Herzegovina: 90 days;
  • Morocco: 90 days.

You can also travel visa-free to Albania, Belarus, Colombia, Ecuador, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Micronesia, Moldova, Tajikistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan.

Rules can change

Visa-free arrangements aren't permanent and do change. For example, since 15 January 2026 visa-free entry to Montenegro has been cancelled, and you now need to get a visa in advance. So before you travel, check the latest information on the official websites of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the State Tourism Agency, or with the embassy of the country you're visiting.

Even without a visa, check these

Even when no visa is needed, some general rules still apply. Your passport must stay valid for a certain time after your trip ends, usually 3–6 months. Some countries may ask to see a return ticket and a hotel booking at the border. Have them ready and you'll avoid extra questions. If you're changing planes in another country on the way, check its transit rules too; we cover this in our article on connecting flights.
